Rewinding – Why Do We Need It?

Rewinding – Why Do We Need It?

Some of us do not understand the concept of rewinding. Well, It is not a new concept. When we say rewind, we mean going back to those times when things were relatively simple. It is mind-boggling how some modern things came into our lives and replaced the old items and products used to be so eco-friendly. In the former times, the environment was a lot safer because of the kind of products used. Now, with the advancement of technology, the environment is not in the best condition. We are not advocating against the positive changes that have come with the advancement of technology and innovations. However, we wish to enlighten people on the environmental and health benefits of rewinding.

We do not need to be told to do certain things to reduce our carbon footprint and become more eco-friendly. Most of us know where we need to rewind a bit. Sometimes, all you need to do is change a bad habit to be a positive change in the environment.

eco-friendly

Without wasting any more time, let us talk about those places that we need to rewind and why we need it.

Environmental and health benefits of rewinding:

Stick to ceramic containers, glass jars, clay pots, and stainless steel pans

Yes, everyone wants to move with the trend, but the question is should it be at the detriment of the environment? Newer kitchen settings may have more to do with plastics than the products mentioned above, but it should not be so. The presence of plastic has been known to be one of the major causes of environmental pollution. Its disposal, either by burning, littering, or landfilling, has been confirmed to have major detrimental effects on the planet. So we need to rewind from using plastic and try to use some more eco-friendly equipment.

Do your laundry with cold water

The invention of electric heaters, boilers, and washing machines may have come to ease our burden, but the truth is we are enjoying those at a cost. We spend a lot of energy heating water for washing. The truth is doing your laundry in cold water is just as effective, if not more effective, than hot water. It also helps to prevent shrinking and quick wearing out of your clothes. You might want to consider rewinding in this aspect.

Practice recycling

Now, we have more landfills and sophisticated incinerators in the world today, but whatever happened to the act of recycling? The amount of plastic, cardboard, and paper that goes into landfills and incinerators is becoming disheartening. Before we started to use products just once before disposal, recycling machines helped us utilize some products in different applications. So the next time you think about dumping that product into the trash can, ask yourself this question, can this product be recycled?

Use compost manure instead of commercial fertilizers

reduce carbon footprint

New advances in technology have confirmed that commercial fertilizers are effective on farms, but if we keep using them, what will happen to the compost bin made up of kitchen scraps and other organic fertilizers materials? Shouldn't they be used instead of commercial fertilizers? They will help reduce carbon footprints and greenhouse gas emissions in their little way.

Use more natural cleaners

Now we have more chemical-based cleaners. Before now, we used natural cleaners like vinegar, baking soda, lemon, and other natural cleaning products. These natural cleaning solutions have proven to be just as effective as those chemical-based cleaners. They also come with an extra advantage; they are more eco-friendly than their counterparts. This is one of those areas we need to take a minute to rewind.

Try to consume local foods

If you knew the amount of damage done to the environment by the manufacturing processes of these processed foods, you will rewind and go back to consuming local produce. Not only are the manufacturing processes harmful to life and the environment, but the packaging products are also harmful. Even the transportation of these processed foods to different locations will leave more carbon footprints than when a consumer walks down to a local farm to get freshly harvested produce.
